Martial Arts Training in Rubery & Cofton Hackett

At Impact Martial Arts, we don’t believe in limiting students to just one style.

Our training is built around the principles of Jeet Kune Do — a modern approach to martial arts that focuses on what works in real life, not just tradition.

This means our students learn a range of disciplines, developing into well-rounded martial artists with confidence in all areas.

What is Jeet Kune Do (JKD)?

Jeet Kune Do (JKD) is a modern martial arts approach created by Bruce Lee, built around being practical, adaptable, and effective in real-life situations. Instead of following a rigid style, JKD encourages students to use what works best for them, blending techniques from disciplines such as boxing, Muay Thai, and grappling to create a well-rounded skill set.

The focus is on developing simple, direct movements that allow you to react quickly and confidently under pressure. Through training, students improve their striking, footwork, timing, and awareness, while also learning to stay calm and think clearly in challenging situations. This makes JKD more than just a martial art—it’s a mindset for self-defence and personal growth.

At Impact Martial Arts, this philosophy helps students build real confidence, not just by learning techniques, but by understanding when and how to use them. Our programme combines elements from multiple martial arts to create a balanced and practical system, helping students develop strong movement, control, and awareness—so they can adapt with confidence in any situation.

Jun Fan & Boxing

Jun Fan Gung Fu & Western Boxing

Training begins with strong foundations in striking and movement, influenced by Jun Fan Gung Fu and Western Boxing.

Students learn how to move efficiently, control distance, and develop timing and precision. This builds not only physical skill, but also confidence in their ability to react and respond effectively.

Muay Thai

Muay Thai introduces powerful striking through kicks, knees, and elbows, while also developing strength and conditioning.

It challenges students physically and mentally, helping them build resilience, improve fitness, and push beyond their comfort zone.

Muay Thai
Filipino Kali

Filipino Kali

Filipino Kali develops coordination, timing, and awareness.

Through flowing drills and patterns, students improve their reactions, rhythm, and ability to stay focused under pressure — skills that carry across all areas of training.

Grappling

Grappling teaches students how to handle close-range situations with control and confidence.

They learn how to stay calm, manage pressure, and deal with situations where distance is limited — an essential part of real-world self-defence.

More Than Just One Style

Unlike traditional martial arts schools that focus on a single system, our approach prepares students for real-life situations.

By training across multiple disciplines, students become more adaptable, more confident, and better prepared.

This approach isn’t about memorising techniques — it’s about understanding how to apply them in real situations.

It also keeps training varied and engaging, helping students stay motivated and continue progressing over time.

Beginner-Friendly & Supportive

You don’t need any experience to get started.

Our classes are structured, supportive, and designed to help every student progress at their own pace. Whether you’re completely new or returning to training, you’ll feel welcomed and supported from day one.
